After winning the Royal Rumble match this year on January 26, 2014, Batista was heavily booed by fans instead of getting cheered. This is obviously not how he or WWE expected things to play out. So many fans were waiting intently throughout the rumble for Daniel Bryan to enter the ring at some point and participate in the match at least, if not win it. When Rey Mysterio came out as #30, the last entrant, it was clear that Bryan would not come out and loud boos were heard as fans expressed their disappointment.
The other fan favorite, was the bad guy Roman Reigns (a member of the Shield). He and Batista were the last ones in the ring and this was exciting because we got to see two powerhouses going head to head for the first time. Reigns was being rooted to win as he is one of the younger talent, along with Daniel Bryan, that deserves to be at the top. Batista's performance was poor and he is no longer in good wrestling shape despite looking healthy and leaner nowadays. He is not a long-term solution for the company and the company can only rely on his star power up to a certain extent.
Photos of Batista mocking the fans were taken by fans after the Royal Rumble show ended. He was absolutely upset with the negative reaction from the audience and was reportedly doing Daniel Bryan's "Yes" chant using his middle fingers. This was out of character as he is supposed to be playing the part of a good guy. Anyways, I would be upset too if I was booed after winning a competition, but that is no excuse to start behaving unprofessionally. I am a fan of Batista and would like to see him act in a respectful manner and deal with the audience morally.
